What is Cosplay?

Cosplay (コスプレ), short for “costume play”, is a type of performance art in which participants don costumes and accessories to represent a specific character or idea. Cosplayers often interact to create a subculture centred around role play. A broader use of the term “cosplay” applies to any costumed role play in venues apart from the stage, regardless of the cultural context.

Favorite sources include manga and anime, comic books, video games and films. Any entity from the real or virtual world that lends itself to dramatic interpretation may be taken up as a subject.

Can I take photographs and videos at the event?

Photography and videoing is permitted in most areas, however we ask that you do not bring large cameras and equipment that will cause a trip hazard or disrupt others enjoyment of the show.

Some exhibitors may have there own restrictions, however these will be clearly signed.

Will there be WIFI available?

Unfortunately due to the high numbers of visitors we are unable to offer public wifi. The venue usually has good 3G coverage on most networks, however we cannot guarantee its availability.

Is there a bar and somewhere to get food?

There will be a snack bar for the full duration of the show that will provide hot and cold food and a bar will be open selling hot, cold and alcoholic drinks.

You are not permitted to bring your own food and drink into the venue.

What time should I arrive?

You are welcome to arrive at any time after the opening times (10am for advance tickets and 11am for on the day sales). We ask that you do not arrive too far in advance of the opening times as it may be cold or wet and there is no covered queuing area.

Is there any difference between the days?

The majority of games will be exactly the same throughout all three days. However, the talks, tournaments and some of the features may change. Please keep an eye on the News section of the website for more details.
